Prevent sports injury & pain
Dr. O’Donnell has been using ComfortFit custom-made orthotics for over 29 years. She has had over 100 hours of training in fitting orthotics and their appropriate use. She is trained in foot and gait analysis which reveals a lot of information about the impact your feet may have on the rest of your body. Orthotics are used in many different cases, not only for foot pain. When done properly, an orthotic can help to align your entire body, thereby reducing stress on your ankles, knees, hips, lower back, all the way up to your neck and jaw! By balancing your feet and allowing for optimum foot function, you can eliminate dysfunctional foot movements that transfer uneven stresses along the kinetic chain.
Pronated or “flat” feet can contribute to many other conditions, such as foot/ankle pain, knee pain, hip pain, lower back pain, mid back pain, neck and jaw pain.
Imagine that your feet are your interface with gravity and it is no wonder how a pronated foot may impact something as seemingly remote as your jaw. That is the kinetic chain once again.
Your feet are the “shock absorbers” of your body and if they are not functioning properly, that stress can be felt elsewhere. Pronated feet are often inherited and have little or nothing to do with wearing ill-footed shoes. Those with pronated feet often have developed bunions because of the unnatural stress across the big toe. That can be prevented if custom made orthotics are used on a regular basis.
