FAKTR
Dr. Amy M. O’Donnell offers Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation
Functional and Kinetic Treatment with Rehabilitation (FAKTR) incorporates the latest research and evidence-based soft-tissue techniques into a system to treat musculoskeletal injuries quickly and easily while getting results. Utilizing soft tissue techniques including instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (Graston Technique) to develop a protocol that includes treatment of the kinetic chain during functional movements with rehabilitation.
FAKTR can treat a wide variety of musculoskeletal conditions including tendinopathy, sprains, strains, entrapment syndromes, fascial restrictions such as plantar fasciitis, ITB syndrome, myofascial pain syndromes, adhesive capsulitis, shin splints and post-surgical recovery. While FAKTR is a great way to treat athletes quickly, the concept can be applied to all ages and all body types. FAKTR is not limited to soft tissue mobilization with movement, but includes the following:
FAKTR Flossing (Blood Flow Restriction): Blood flow restriction (Flossing) training involves decreasing blood flow to working muscles of the extremities in order to promote hypertrophy and prevent disuse atrophy of muscles. This treatment is used while the patient performs exercises. Dr. O’Donnell uses Flossing for shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle injuries and has found it to be an integral part of her treatment protocol. It is a game- changing injury recovery therapy that is producing dramatically positive results.
Dynamic Taping: A multi-tiered approach to Biomechanical Taping.
Dynamic Tape is not a kinesiology or athletic tape. It is the “Original” Biomechanical Tape ®, an entirely new category of sports and therapeutic taping. These innovative, 4-way stretching tapes with strong elastic resistance and recoil of varying grades, absorb and inject force to reduce the workload on the body. This taping methodology aims to directly manage load, modify movement patterns and assist function. Dynamic Tape does all this with a soft, breathable tape that is of such high quality and strength that professional athletes around the world trust our product everyday. From rehabilitation to the World Cup, Dynamic Tape is changing the way we look at sports and therapeutic taping.
Dr. O’Donnell uses Dynamic Tape for various conditions of the spine and extremities.
Motion Guidance: A rehabilitation and training tool that offers a simple way to add visual feedback external cues to rehab sessions and home exercise program.
This laser device offers the potential of incorporating an external focus of attention to any movement or exercise. The feedback is immediate and the cue is something the person can directly follow and understand without the potential “confusion” of giving too many unnecessary verbal instruction: instead, they see it.
Dr. O’Donnell incorporates Motion Guidance when a patient has lost the ability to control muscles as part of their rehabilitative recovery process.
