Injury Prevention and Chiropractic Care
No one wants to be sidelined by an injury. Injury prevention is the key. Chiropractic care is often considered to only apply to spinal adjustments; however, Dr. O’Donnell does much more to address injury prevention in her holistic approach. Whether you are an athlete or not, her approach can greatly decrease your chance of getting hurt.
Excessive training, pushing oneself too hard too fast, poor form or posture, and muscle imbalances/weaknesses often lead to injuries. Hyperextension and hyperflexion can lead to muscle tears, pain and debilitation. In addition, misalignment of the spine can lead to excessive tension in one part of the body.
In addition to spinal manipulation, Dr. O’Donnell incorporates numerous treatments to address limitations and asymmetries. She does this by performing a Functional Movement Screen which is a ranking and grading system created to document movement patterns that are key to normal functioning. As we age, our innate movement patterns change often leading to dysfunctional patterns that can lead to injury.
